API Membership

How do I join online?

To join online, please navigate to our membership page and select the membership that is right for you. You will be taken through our online payment processing system. If you have problems with your online payment, please leave a message for our Member Liaison at (800) 850-8320, and she will process the payment over the phone with you.

I prefer not to join online. What are my other options for joining API?

We understand and are glad to offer additional options for you. You can join through postal mail, you can join by sending us a fax (if submitting credit card payment), or you can join over the phone (if submitting credit card payment)—the choice is up to you!

To join over the phone, please call us at (800) 850-8320. Please leave a message for our Member Liaison, who will return your call as soon as possible. When leaving a message, please tell us your name, phone number, and time zone, and the best time and day to reach you.

To join by fax, please fill out the Membership Application and fax to us at (800) 850-8320. Please mark "Attention: Member Liaison." Our Member Liaison will process your application and confirm through e-mail or over the phone.

To join by postal mail, please complete the Membership Application, make a check payable to Attachment Parenting International for the membership level desired, and mail both items to:

Can I submit a payment for a new or renewing membership as well as a donation to API at the same time?

Yes, you can! You can do this through the mail, by fax (if submitting credit card payment), or over the phone (if submitting credit card payment). If you would like to call, please leave a message for our Member Liaison at (800) 850-8320. Please remember to leave your name, phone number, and time zone, and the best time and day to reach you.

How can I determine when my membership expires?

You can contact our Member Liaison via our Contact Us form or leave a message at (800) 850-8320 indicating that you'd like to know when your membership expires. Our Member Liaison will get back to you as soon as possible. You can also check your latest edition of The Journal of API for the expiration date on the back page.

I just joined in January, but the expiration for my membership isn't until March of the following year. Isn't the membership only for a year?

Good observation! You are correct that API Membership is for a year only, but we base our expirations on a quarterly basis to coincide with The Journal of API target release dates. So that we ensure that you receive all four editions of The Journal of API, we set your expiration to be the last month of that selected quarter. This also ensures that we are able to keep up with our membership base and notify all members ahead of time of their upcoming expirations.

I am a paying API Member, but I have yet to receive a postal copy of Attachment Parenting: The Journal of API.

We are sorry to hear this. It is probably because you joined when that quarter's release of the journal had already been shipped to the mail house. We usually offset this by including a complimentary link in your welcome e-mail to the most current edition of the journal. If this is not the case, please contact us by e-mail or by phone at (800) 850-8320 so that we can ensure that your mailing address is up-to-date and that your membership is still active.

I am a paying API Member but I have yet to receive my electronic version of The Journal of API.

We are sorry to hear this. Have you recently unsubscribed from any of our additional online communications such as our eNewsletter API Links or the API Leaders Blast? If so, our Web program most likely removed you from the entire database. This would explain why you are no longer receiving your electronic notice about the most recent issue of The Journal of API. If this is what you believe happened, you will need to re-subscribe to our eNewsletter API Links which you can find on our Web site. Once you have subscribed to our eNewsletter, please e-mail us so that we can remove you from the eNewsletter and simply place you in the distribution list for the electronic journal announcement.

If you have not unsubscribed from any of our electronic eNewsletters or notices, please make sure that ‘attachmentparenting.org' is notated in your e-mail client as a Safe Sender. You might also check to see if the journal is accidentally going to your SPAM folder.

If none of the above seems to be the cause of your not receiving the journal, please e-mail our Member Liaison and she will further assist you.
