    On page 144 Larry writes:

    "The difference between recklessness and true power is connection. Like some attention deficits, recklessness comes from an earlier problem with attachment. I have had numerous experiences of seeing one child racing up a tree without paying attention to the risks, while another child stands forlornly at the bottom, too scared to try. If a child doesn't see any risks at all, he can't explore safely, but if he sees only th dangers, he won't explore at all. One needs a soothing influence: "Slow down there, buddy; let's do this safely." The other needs encouragement: "Let's give it a try; I'll be right here to spot you.""
