This may be the first survey of attachment parenting practices by attachment parents aimed at helping medical professionals understand the AP culture. We encourage all AP to take the survey and forward it to other AP far and wide! Responses are confidential and will serve as an opportunity to establish a more accurate set of descriptions about who AP are and our motivations in choosing the parenting practices we do. Purpose of the study:
This study is being conducted by Gregory C. Robinson, PhD, Assistant Professor of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Department at the University of Arkansas-Little Rock in order to better understand the culture of attachment parenting. This research will help medical and educational professionals to better understand the culture so that these professionals might serve these families with more understanding and less bias. I plan to present the results of this study in a presentations and an article or a book targeted to attachment parents and health/education professionals based on the data provided by survey respondents.
Description of the survey procedures and approximate duration of the study:
I would greatly appreciate your completing this survey. Since the validity of the results depend on obtaining a high response rate, your participation is crucial to the success of this study. The survey which will focus on parenting choices (i.e., homebirthing, breastfeeding, co-sleeping, home schooling, vaccinations, etc.) may take as little as 15 minutes to several hours to complete depending on how much you choose to write. Qualtrics will store a "cookie" on your computer, so that you may stop the survey and return to it later if you run out of time (provided you do so on the same computer). You may also discontinue the survey at any time and only the data that you have input will be included in the study.
Description of how confidentiality will be assured and the limits to these assurances, if any.
Your completion of the online survey indicates your consent to participate in this study. Your responses will be anonymous to the extent that the information you include does not identify who you are. As soon as I receive your completed survey, the data will be organized into themes and coded so that the culture of attachment parenting may be adequately described. All survey responses will be stored for three years after the data are recorded. If the results of this study were to be written for publication, no identifying information will be used.

Participating in this study may benefit you by allowing you to share your story and help medical and education professionals understand and work better with parents who are a part of attachment parenting culture.
The potential benefits to science and humanity that may result from this study are a better of understanding of a growing cultural group in the U.S. This study will provide information to medical and educational professionals to help them work with and serve the needs of these families.
