Why TIME Magazine is Showing Attachment Parenting is Going Mainstream, Not Extreme
When we, Attachment Parenting International, learned that TIME Magazine decided to take on attachment parenting in its May 21, 2012 issue, we had to ask, "TIME, are you news magazine enough?"
Beyond the incendiary attempt to pit mothers against each other asking, "Are you mom enough," and a strategic cover contrived to sell copies, what did TIME actually say about attachment parenting?

This year API will celebrate 18 years of grassroots, global, compassionate, support to families everywhere! It's time to do something new and big to help us spread the word and reflect our true community, so we're introducing that API now offers free API Membership. Check out what's included -- including receiving great enewsletters and The Attached Family electronic magazine.
Families are free to print their magazine, or email it, sharing it with family, pediatricians, community centers, shelters, friends, and someone you really wanted to see that article. You can help API really increase our impact and meet our mission. Back issues of the magazine and journal will be available free of charge too. Yeah!

Barbara Nicholson honored

"The spirit of MIHOW is embodied in the idea that women are powerful because they see and nurture the power in others. A mentor is someone who impacts her community by recognizing strengths in places where others don't see them and by helping women build on those strengths to find their own power." The MIHOW Program is a peer-to peer mentoring program that helps low income mothers in isolated and underserved communities be the best parents they can be. MIHOW workers visit mothers in their own homes to help them help themselves -- building the mother's confidence and skills to get the health and social services her family needs.
Barbara Nicholson has personally and professionally changed the world, nurturing the power in others every day. She served as a La Leche League Leader for many years, co-founding API with Lysa Parker in 1994. She serves on API's Board of Directors, and is the co-author with Lysa of Attached at the Heart: 8 Proven Parenting Principles for Raising Connected and Compassionate Children.
