About API Membership

By becoming a member of Attachment Parenting International (API), you help reach other parents and professionals through education, support, advocacy, and research. Our efforts touch the lives of parents worldwide through local support groups, The Journal of API (our quarterly publication), the monthly API Links eNEWSLETTER, and national advocacy efforts.

In addition, your membership donation contributes to innovative projects such as the creation of a comprehensive Attachment Parenting Parent Education Program, the formation of strategic alliances with like-minded organizations, the expansion of our network of AP-friendly Professionals, and the recent upgrade of our Web site to become the premier Attachment Parenting online community.

The Journal of API

One tremendous benefit of API membership is API's quarterly journal The Journal of API four times a year, with a complimentary edition provided to us at the start of a new membership.

The Journal of API is a wonderful source of support since it helps provide little reminders to us of how important it is to remain connected and empathetic to our children on a daily basis. It provides real-life stories from some of our members in regards to their various struggles and triumphs they experience or experienced in relation to the selected theme of the journal. It provides articles of knowledge to help us to continue to improve the tools we have in our belt in our parent journey. It provides empowerment and ideas on new tools to put in our belts to keep us connected and empathetic with our children. The Journal of API is growing every day and is a very treasured gift that we like to receive every quarter. It helps us to grow within ourselves, within our families, and within our communities.

U.S. Individual/Family Membership - $35/year

Benefits include:

  • 4 issues of The Journal of API
    Online or postal mail delivery in North America; please include e-mail address for online delivery
  • Membership in local parent support group; if you join through your local API Support Group then $15 is retained for use in your community.
  • Membership to our online forums
  • Various member incentive programs available to only paying API members
  • Knowledge that you are a part of a network of like-minded parents striving to parent children in a peaceful, empathic way
  • Knowledge that you are contributing to the education and support that other families receive, ultimately helping them to become better connected to their children and to becoming stronger, happier families.

International Individual/Family Membership - $35/year + postage

Benefits include:

  • 4 issues of The Journal of API
    • Standard membership: Online delivery only for $35, please include email address
    • Canadian members: Optional postal delivery for the annual premium postage fee of $18.00 (plus $35 membership rate)
    • European members: Optional postal delivery for the annual premium postage fee of $26.00 (plus $35 membership rate)
  • Membership in local parent support group; if you join through your local API Support Group then $15 is retained for use in your community
  • Membership to our online forums
  • Various member incentive programs available to only paying API members
  • Knowledge that you are a part of a network of like-minded parents striving to parent children in a peaceful, empathic way
  • Knowledge that you are contributing to the education and support that other families receive, ultimately helping them to become better connected to their children and to becoming stronger, happier families.

Note: For premium postage fees to other countries, please e-mail our Member Liaison. If an international order is processed through our online payment processing system without initially contacting API, the shipping rate will be subject to change.

Gift Memberships

Purchasing a Gift Membership for a friend or family member is a wonderful and inspiring gift of education and support that your loved one can enjoy all year long! These gifts are a fabulous way to share in the joy of a new birth, to celebrate the special older child in your family, or to celebrate and recognize the importance and special nature of the mother or father in your family! Whether you choose a gift membership certificate or a gift package, your recipient will receive the benefits of becoming an API Member!

Benefits and pricing are the same as listed for U.S. and International memberships above.

Please note that all gift packages, unless you request otherwise, will be shipped within two weeks of the date that the order was placed. Please contact our Member Liaison if you order has not been shipped within this time frame.

Professional Membership - $75/year

API recommends this level of membership to individuals who promote AP through their professional endeavors. Membership is open to anyone whose job impacts the physical, psychological, or emotional health of children and families.

AP-friendly Professionals Program - $225/year

API developed the AP-friendly Professionals program to facilitate the collaboration of professionals who promote Attachment Parenting through their work. It allows API to develop a network of individuals, professionals, and organizations to whom we can refer members and request support for API projects. API recommends the AP-friendly Professionals Program to individuals who promote Attachment Parenting in their professional endeavors. AP-friendly Professionals commit to supporting API and promoting The Eight Principles of Attachment Parenting.

Benefits include:

  • All API Professional Membership benefits as listed above
  • Complimentary and priority Web site listing on the AP-friendly Professionals page
  • Special invitation to professional events hosted by API or our partners
  • Invitation to join the online discussion forum for AP-friendly Professionals only in which our founders, Board of Directors, and/ or Advisory Board will moderate for specified amount of time
  • Invitation to have your AP-friendly content featured in API publications including API Links, The Journal of API , or API's FAQs
  • AP-friendly logo for use on business cards and in other advertising
  • 5% discount on advertising in API publications and API Web site
