This week, August 1-7, we encourage you to join in observing this year's World Breastfeeding Week theme: "Step up for Breastfeeding: Education and Support."
#WBW2022 continues to emphasize breastfeeding's role in improving infant and child nutrition, ensuring food security, and reducing inequalities by focusing on strengthening the ability of breastfeeding educators and others in the breastfeeding community in protecting, promoting, and supporting breastfeeding across varying levels of society.
To this end, the World Alliance for Breastfeeding Action (WABA) has launched its Warm Chain campaign. The goal is to create a warm chain of post-pandemic support for breastfeeding through informed, educated, and empowered forms of government, health systems, workplaces, and communities.
The Warm Chain campaign places Mother and Baby at the core of a continuum of care during the baby's first 1,000 days (approximately 2-3/4 years). WABA invites you to join #WarmChain by identifying your role in your community's warm chain of support for breastfeeding through a 5-minute, confidential survey.
WABA has made available information cards to help you identify your role in the warm chain of support for breastfeeding as well as next steps in connecting with other stakeholders in your organization or community. These information cards are available in Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish.
